Unphased by Reset...

October 11, 2016 - We're driving through the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago after a short baby-sitting stint.  The glowing 17" Model S monitor changes from the map to a Tesla T emblem.  I'm perceiving that the computer must need a reset - I wonder why.  We're still moving along with no hesitation or changes to driving capabilities.  After no more than 10 seconds, the normal map screen reappears.  A Tesla acceleration up the ramp and we're on the road home.  Safe and secure.

  1. Is there a fee for using the charging stations ? How far can you go on a full charge, and is speed and performance affected as charge is depleted ?

  2. Tesla has developed an international program for charging your Tesla vehicle. They installed "SuperChargers" on major arteries which are free to Tesla owners. The charge rate with a SuperCharger provides about 150 miles of charge in 20-30 minutes. Other charging systems are available, usually at a slower charging rate and normally for a fee.

My Models S 75D can travel approximately 255 miles on a full charge. This is dependent, though, on your speed and road elevation, among other parameters.

Speed and performance are independent of the level of charge. The car performs the same on the last mile as it did on the first mile traveled.
